A Loft Conversion Built in Cumbria, The Lake District by Wolfe Design & Build

Wolfe are really proud to have recently completed this loft conversion in the heart of the Lake District, on the prominent Windermere road in Kendal.

A beautiful townhouse with great original features, we began at the ground floor with a kitchen re-model and worked out way up into the loft. Here we combine traditional design with modern, to complement the character of the building, and bring as much light, space and enjoyment of the view into the loft as possible.

A Traditional Front Gable Dormer

This was achieved with the design and build of a traditional gable dormer to the front of the property. This was in keeping with the street scape, where a similar design has been deployed on neighbouring properties when first constructed. To maximise internal space, this was formed from the ridge of the roof, down to the front wall plate.

Local Stone

Local stone was carefully selected to blend old with new, with the new dormer face continuing on the same line as the existing facing stone. Dormer cheeks received slates to match the rest of the roof, also incorporating an anthracite window.

Rear Zinc Style Flat Roof Dormer

Again maximising space, to the rear a flat roof dormer was formed from the ridge to the rear wall plate. The combination of a zinc style finish and a large picture window in anthracite, to enjoy the uninterrupted views, gave an incredible modern feel, whilst still complementing the existing stone structure.

Good design and a high-end finish have left the customer and the team really pleased with the result, transforming the top third of this lovely home.
